King Philip Warriors Basketball Team, 2010-2011 Season
The Situation
- During the 2009-2010 season, the King Philip boys basketball team went 5-15
- In their three previous seasons, the team experienced a 66-game losing streak
- Using video was not an option, because it was not only difficult to break down film, but very time consuming
- Feedback on their game film was previously impossible due to the school’s limitations with their AV department
How Krossover Helped
- Coach McInnis started using Krossover for the 2010-2011 season
- Each game’s film was broken down in about 24 hours after it ended
- Games from the previous season were broken down and used as scouting film to prepare for upcoming opponents
- Easy-to-create highlight reels allowed him to help each kid focus on how they were being played and where they could improve
- Interactive shot charts showed kids where they were being successful with their shots
- It allowed the team’s coaches to provided individual assessments of players immediately following each game
- Made it possible to verify scouting reports against game tapes prior to playing opponents
- Kids and coaches could put together their own highlight reels to share with friends and family
- Sent students’ highlight reels to the top colleges looking to recruit
The Results
- 18-9 record for the 2010-2011 season, a 13-win improvement
- Points allowed per game dropped by over 10 points
- Points scored per game increased by over 9 points
- Played for their division’s championship
- Helped star player get recruited
- Lots of happy kids
